LOS VERBOS REGULARES IR Y ER

The following lesson will help students learn how to conjugate regular ER and IR verbs in the present tense and to use them appropriately in different contexts or situations. These verbs are listed in the Spanish Textbook: Puntos de Partida (page 81).

This powerpoint presentation introduces the verbs with the conjugations, examples, and images to help students remember the definitions. It requires out loud repetition and providing examples of the verbs in context. It is also entertaining and fun with some of its audio and animation effects.

After viewing the powerpoint, the students will continue with the following exercises.

Click on the following link to participate in the activities on quía. Began with the activity entitled "el Ahorcado (Hangman) de verbos IR y ER". Follow the instructions carefully. After completing that, click on the activity "Tomás y Daniel" and follow the instructions to fill in the blanks correctly.

Actividades de Quía

After completing your two activities on Quía, click on the following link to take la pruebita (the quiz) on the Hotpotatoes program. You are not allowed to use your notes or book for the quiz. It is multiple choice and will test your knowledge of these regular verbs and their uses. Do not answer until you are sure you have the correct answer so take your time. If you get an answer wrong, try again until you get it right.

La Pruebita

Please post a comment about these activities and quiz explaining why or why not these were useful/helpful exercises.

  5. I liked both activities, however, on the hangman activity was a bit odd because the words kept cut off, which made it difficult to figure out the word. The other activity, the Tomas and Daniel, was very helpful with learning and using -ER and -IR verbs. The quiz, as well, was very helpful with seeing if I knew and understood -ER and -IR verbs.

  6. The activity with the paragraph was very helpful in conjugating the verbs depending upon who was being talked about. Hangman would be more useful if the subjects in some of them were something that we had learned previously. Also, the quiz definitely helped as review of the verbs as well as the conjugations of them.

  7. The words on the hang man were cut off and you couldn't figure out the word because you couldn't see what all the letters were. The 2nd activity was okay other than that it was off the first time. The quiz helped a little bit with review but it was super easy.

  8. I liked the tomas y daniel activity. I thought it was better than the hangman activity because you actually had to think more and conjugate the verbs yourself instead of just guessing the letters like in hangman. the quiz was also good because it required you to think more.

  10. The hangman activity was fun but didn't really help with learning how to conjugate verbs, is was pretty much just guessing the letters. I thought the tomas y daniel activity helped the most with teaching us how to conjugate verbs by understanding the context.

  17. Hangman helped me to recognize how to spell certain words. The quiz was a little easy because the answers were in front of you, but they forced you to really read the sentences in order to find the correct answer. The conjugations was the most challenging, but very useful.

  18. The powerpoint was really helpful in learning the verbs, as we put the words in context by making sentences. The hangman game was just fun in my opinion since I just had to guess letters and did not necessarily have to conjugate the verbs. The second activity was more helpful since we had to actually conjugate the verbs accurately. The quiz was helpful as well since it called for us to conjugate the verbs properly as well.

  25. I thought that this week's activities were useful. The hangman was fun and helped me recognize spanish words and try to remember them before I saw them. The quiz and the other activity were easy so that is good. The fill in the blanks one was easy enough while still challenging me to conjugate them all and learn to recognize the context. The powerpoint slide show was a good way to learn the different verbs and I remembered them all.

  33. The powerpoint was useful because it went well with visual learning, which I am more used to. The tests today were useful because the hang man quiz reinforced the process of association by way of conjugation. The quiz utilized the process of elimination along with conjugation to provide me with the correct answers.
